Hudson County prosecutors tell The Jersey Journal that Troy Brandon was stabbed in the torso around 10:15 p.m. Saturday on a street in Jersey City. The 26-year-old city resident died a short time later at a hospital.

Authorities say the person Brandon tried to help suffered undisclosed injuries and was being treated at a hospital. But further details on that person and their injuries were not released.

The stabbing was the 23rd killing in Jersey City this year and the eighth since Nov. 12.

Motives for the initial attack and the stabbing remains under investigation.

No arrests have been made.
