A crew member aboard the commercial dive vessel Gypsy Blood contacted Coast Guard Station Manasquan around 10 a.m. Sunday to report the diver was unresponsive. The man, whose name was not disclosed, had been diving near the Manasquan Inlet.

The Coast Guard station dispatched a 47-foot motor life boat crew, which included two emergency medical technicians who performed CPR on the diver as he was taken back to the station.

But the man was pronounced dead shortly after the boat crew arrived. A cause of death was not immediately known.

The Gypsy Blood is a Brielle-based company describing itself as a “full service diving charter operation" on its website.
