Jersey City resident Mykyta Panasenko (mee-KEE'-tuh pan-ah-SANK'-oh) says he's stunned at seeing his name in news reports from the U.S. to Europe implying he was connected to the Boston Marathon bombings.

Authorities say he's not connected.  The 27-year-old acknowledges taking explosive materials on a train April 7 to set off fireworks in woods north of New York City. He says a roommate worried about the materials contacted police.

Prosecutors said Friday he faces serious charges including creating a risk of widespread injury or damage but wouldn't have been released without bail if anyone thought he posed a threat to the public.]
