Fifty-one-year-old Rudolph Churchill of Paulsboro, N.J., was taken into custody Wednesday in Philadelphia.

The charges stem from the murders of two women -- the first of whom was discovered nearly 25 years ago to the day.

Nineteen-year-old Ruby Ellis was found strangled and beaten to death on March 17, 1989, in an abandoned car.

A month later, the decomposing body of 33-year-old Cheryl Hanible was found in a burned-out bar. She was also strangled.

Police said DNA testing linked Churchill to the slayings.

He is charged with two counts of murder and related offenses.
