GALLOWAY — A 59-year-old man was killed after being struck by an NJ Transit bus late Saturday night.

According to a statement from Galloway Police Department Patrolman Steve Garrison, the NJ Transit bus was heading east on US 30 near Jimmie Leeds Road at about 10:50 p.m. when the incident occurred. Police say the bus, driven by Adalbert Fabian, struck the 59-year-old as he crossed the highway.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, police said in a statement. His identity has not been released, pending notification of his family.

Authorities say the driver and passengers on the bus did not sustain any injuries in the crash. Police shut down the eastbound outside lane of the roadway for about two hours during an investigation of the scene.

Police are asking anyone who has information, or who may have witnessed the crash to contact Officer Steve Garrison of the GTPD Fatal Accident Unit at 609-652-3705.
