For years now I have made the mistake of making Italian food anytime we have company from Italy come to visit. Well we have another cousin coming to meet the family for the first time this weekend and we are having a big family cookout for her to enjoy.

It's a big American holiday with plenty of good American food to show off, why would I be stupid enough to offer the kind of food she can get anytime in Italy, so one of the foods I think she will enjoy and can't wait for her to try is PULLED PORK SANDWICHES!

Here is a simple recipe, just allow enought time to slow cook the pork in your oven or slow cooker.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 (2 pound) pork tenderloin
  • 1 (12 fluid ounce) can or bottle root beer
  • 1 package of pork rub
  • 1 (18 ounce) bottle your favorite barbecue sauce
  • 8 hamburger buns, split and lightly toasted

HOW TO MAKE IT:

Rub port with pork rub. Place the pork tenderloin in a slow cooker or oven at 250. Pour the Root Beer over the meat. Cover and cook on low until well-cooked and the pork shreds easily, 6 to 7 hours.

Note: the actual length of time may vary according to individual slow cooker. Drain well. Stir in barbecue sauce.

Serve over hamburger buns.
