A New Egypt residence has been secured but a standoff with a barricade male continued Tuesday afternoon, according to the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office.

The Asbury Park Press reported afternoon the first responding officer found a woman stabbed, fatally wounded in the driveway, citing an unnamed law enforcement source.

Ocean County Prosecutor's Office spokesman Al Della Fave said around 2 p.m. the event was ongoing, but he said he "cannot confirm nor deny reports of a deceased victim."

The air space over the scene has been deemed restricted by the FAA at the request of the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office, Della Fave said. He didn't explain why.

Plumsted Police received a call around 10 a.m. about an altercation and possible barricade situation on Evergreen Road, Della Fave said. He said the home was secured and contained, but didn't say whether anyone else was believed to be inside.

A lockdown at nearby New Egypt High School, which is not in session, has been lifted according to the Ocean County Sheriff's Department. The Asbury Park Press reports 30 students were at the school, which is being used as a staging area. The Plumsted branchof the Ocean County Library is also closed.

Residents are asked to continue to stay away from the area of Evergreen Road, which is located off Route 537.

This is a breaking story. Check back for additional details.
