Lyndhurst Football Coach Faces Child Sex Assault Charge
Prosecutors say a northern New Jersey high school football coach had a sexual relationship with a female student.
Lyndhurst school district officials say 39-year-old Scott Rubinetti was suspended with pay after his arrest Wednesday on charges of sexual assault, child endangerment and witness tampering. He was a physical education teacher at the school and has been its head football coach since 2009.
Bergen County Prosecutor John Molinelli says a teacher at the school heard talk about the relationship and notified district officials, who then notified Molinelli's office.
The relationship allegedly occurred between 2009 and 2010, when the girl was a senior at the school. She told investigators that Rubinetti told her to lie about the relationship if questioned.
A telephone number for Rubinetti could not be located Wednesday night.
