Please, let’s not make shooters into celebrities

I will never mention the name of the man who shot John Lennon.

I don’t believe that taking an innocent person’s life is cause for celebrity. I was disgusted to see everything but the prom pictures of the Boston Marathon bombers all over the internet when that tragedy happened.

Now, it's happening once again, with the weekend of tragedy that happened in Orlando, both Friday night with Evesham’s Cristina Grimmie being shot to death and the mass murder at the “Pulse” nightclub in Orlando. Since neither shooter survived, we’ll hopefully not be inundated with the pictures and back story of these two men.

Seeing pictures of these guys smiling, as most people do when being photographed, only makes me more angry, frustrated, and helpless regarding the situation.

I understand the names must come out as part of the news coverage, but the media gets to decide how famous they want to make these people. Here’s hoping they choose "not at all."

Sadly, if you need a picture for a story, there are plenty of victims to choose from.
