State Sens. Kevin O'Toole, who had been the Republican whip, and Christopher "Kip" Bateman, the Deputy Conference Leader, were absent from the 2014 leadership team Kean announced Monday. Both lawmakers had held top party positions since 2008.

Bateman was among the senators who had backed O'Toole for the minority leader post last November, after Republicans failed to pick up any seats in legislative elections.

Bateman's post was taken by state Sen. Jennifer Beck. Kean did not name a new whip.

Rounding out the leadership team are Deputy Leader Diane Allen; Conference Leader Robert Singer; Assistant Leader Joe Pennacchio and Budget Officer Anthony Bucco.
