A Philadelphia attorney recently indicted in New Jersey on charges he stole more than $1 million from an elderly woman whose trust he was overseeing has been captured in Alabama.

Peter Aseltine, a spokesman for the state Attorney General's Office, said 42-year-old Michael Kwasnik was arrested at a bus station in Dothan on Wednesday.

Officers had gone there after a taxi driver who drove Kwasnik and a woman to the station thought Kwasnik was acting suspiciously and contacted authorities. They then learned New Jersey authorities had issued a warrant for Kwasnik's arrest.

Kwasnik, who also has a law office in Cherry Hill, has maintained his innocence. He faces several charges, including theft and money laundering. He was being held on $1 million bail in Alabama, pending an extradition hearing.
