A Chevrolet Tahoe drove into the side of a tractor trailer on Route 1 at Darrah Lane around 6:30 p.m. on Friday night killing Jamella Tisdale, 25, of Levittown, Pennsylvania along with her sons, nine-year-old Jaevon Durante and Jaden Tisdale, who was three and a half months old.

The driver of the Tahoe, Shaqwan Tisdale, 25,and eight-year-old Mellady Durante remain in the hospital in stable condition.

The Tisdale family was on their way to the Lighthouse Outreach Ministry on Bellevue Avenue in Trenton for a concert to celebrate the release of Shaqwan’s new CD. He is an author, gospel musician and life coach

The Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office says the truck, driven by 45-year-old Richard Williams of Brooklyn, was making an illegal U-turn and that drugs or alcohol are not factors. Williams faces three counts of death by auto and is being held at the Mercer County House of Corrections on $100,000 bail.Williams was not injured in the crash.

The road was closed for 4 hours while State Police conducted their  investigation.

Stuffed animals and toys were scattered on the highway as rescue crews worked for an hour to get to the passengers of the SUV.  A witness said family members of the passengers in the SUV arrived crying and extremely upset at what they saw.

Witnesses to the accident are asked to call Lawrence Township Police Department at (609) 844-7133.
