Lautenberg Sidelined By Leg Pain

Leg pain caused Senator Frank Lautenberg (D) to miss several votes last week.

The nation's oldest U.S. Senator  missed voting on the confirmation of John Brennan to become head of the Central Intelligence Agency.

Lautenberg spokesman Caley Gray told The Record  the 89-year-old Democrat had pain in his legs and was getting them checked out. He added that Lautenberg would have supported Brennan, who was confirmed by 63 votes, far more than was needed.

Lautenberg was sick with the flu in late December and early January. He missed several votes related to a $60 billion relief package for Superstorm Sandy. Lautenberg has been seen walking with the help of a cane during his last time in the Capital according to The Record.

Lautenberg announced last month he would retire next year and not seek re-election. Caley did not know when Lautenberg would return to Washington D.C.
