Port Authority of New York and New Jersey spokesman Steve Coleman says 45 flights were cancelled and five were delayed at the Delta terminal after power went out at 4:30 a.m. Friday.

He says the FAA is reporting Delta delays of approximately 2 hours.

The outage occurred when a contractor accidentally cut two electric feeders that serve a portion of Terminal C.

Power was restored to the terminal jet bridges as of 8:30 a.m. They're the passenger walkways that lead to the airplane from the terminal.

Flights have not resumed, but Coleman says Delta expects its communication system to be back sometime shortly after 9 a.m.

Generators were brought in to help resume operations.
