County health officials say a couple adopted the kitten from the Animal Welfare Association in Voorhees on June 5. It had been vaccinated on May 28.

They took the kitten to a veterinarian when it exhibited aggressive behavior four days later. The kitten bit both owners at the vet's.

The kitten was euthanized and tested positive for rabies.

Officials tell The Courier-Post of Cherry Hill the owners will receive treatment and officials are trying to determine if any other people or animals at the shelter were exposed to the rabid kitten.
