There have been stories like this before, but just in case you were unaware, young people are abandoning Facebook. Seattle television station KOMO reports that Facebook's number of daily members is declining.

My two older children still have FB accounts but they rarely use them; typically they have to be notified that they've been tagged before they'll sign on. They haven't abandoned social media, however. My 17 year old son communicates with his friends (and voices his opinion on things) via Twitter and my 15 year old daughter spends much of her time online surfing Tumblr. The KOMO report bears this out when it says that young people still spend as much time online as before, its just not on Facebook.
