Keith Hernandez Shaves Potentially the Best Mustache in History [PHOTO/POLL]

Former New York Met, Keith Hernandez shaved his iconic mustache for charity earlier today outside CitiField.

While this was undoubtedly done for a great cause, and perhaps a top three highlight of the Mets 2012 season (behind only Johan Santana pitching the first no-hitter in franchise history), this is indeed the end of an era.

According to SNY,

In honor of Keith’s shave, which is presented by Schick Hydro, Schick will be donating $5,000 to the Jacquelyn Hernandez Adult Day Health Center (named for Keith’s mom).

Keith Hernandez's famous facial hair has been a part of the New York sports scene since he played first base in the 1980s. It even made it's way into "Seinfeld". Check out a scene between Keith Hernandez and Elaine below.
