The mystery has been solved regarding Justin Bieber performing at a Halloween event in Newark.

The Newark Bears had posted on their website  and Facebook page that Bieber would  perform at their Stadium of Screams event at Bears& Eagles Riverfront Stadium on Sunday, October 28.

Bieber's longtime publicist Melissa Victor told the Star Ledger that the  show announcement  is "pure fiction." but Bears owner Danielle Dronet, however insisted the show was a go.

Tuesday afternoon, however, the Bears pulled the plug on the concert, blaming "fraudulent representation of Justin Bieber" in a statement on the Stadium of Screams Facebook page.

"The Newark Bears and The Newark Bears That Care Foundation are investigating a situation regarding fraudulent representation of Justin Bieber, who has no part of any potential related fraudulent activity," reads the Facebook statement.

The "Screams" event is going on as scheduled.

"The red flag came from the fact that we couldn't recant the story. We did not want to further misinform anybody or go forward with something that we thought was concrete," Bears Assistant General Manager Mark Hannan told WABC TV.

Dronet says the show was arranged by Rene Lujan, who, according to his LinkedIn profile, is vice president of operations at SkyIsland Productions and owner of Luna Bay Productions.
