HADDON — The trial of David "D.J." Creato, accused of killing his 3-year-old son, is close, with jury selection possibly beginning this week.

The Courier-Post reported that Richard Fuschino, Creato's attorney, was granted a one-day extension for a pretrial motion hearing until Wednesday, which delays the selection process.

One motion being considered, according to PhillyVoice.com, is from the Camden County Prosecutor's Office: to take the jury to Cooper River Park in Haddon Township, where Brendan Creato's body was found in October 2015, several hours after his father reported him missing.

The 23-year-old was later charged with killing his son by smothering or drowning the boy.

PhillyVoice.com reported the prosecution wants to show that the wooded area is difficult to reach, especially for a toddler. Philadelphia attorney A. Charles Peruto Jr. was quoted as saying such a visit is risky because the jury could notice other things about the scene beyond what the prosecution intended.
