Judi Franco: A word to the protesters across America
I wanted to tell you things that are going to cheer you up, that are going to make you feel better that are going to assuage your anxiety.
I want to tell you things that are going to motivate you to try to "move on." Retreat to your safe space and make the rest of your day a good one. I want to tell you things that are going to assure you that everything in life is good and going to remain good forever or at least for the foreseeable future. I would love to be able to tell you things that will ease your pain and will make all your friends happy & that will allow you to feel secure for the future.
Things that will allow you to feel like the world is a safe place, that will make you to believe that you can do anything and be anything. I would love to be able to assure you that nobody evil will ever do anything to you or your friends that is going to make you feel belittled, ashamed, sad, more marginalized or unimportant.
But I can't. Because life sucks sometimes and bad crap happens sometimes.
And it hurts. Sometimes there's nothing you can do to stop it. When you accept that, it means you are a grown up. Until then, can you move out of the street? I have a job to get to. That is all.
