The bills are designed to spur job growth and promote economic development and are part of the Assembly Democrats' job creation effort laid out last week.

The 12-bill package includes measures to stimulate the state's manufacturing industry, create a jobs training program for out-of-work residents and cut red tape facing business owners.

The proposals were approved by the Assembly Budget Committee and will head to the full Assembly for likely votes on Dec. 17.

Assembly Speaker Sheila Oliver says the Legislature must do what it can to help get New Jerseyans back to work.
