Jersey Tree Survives Sandy-Will Bring Joy to Millions

An 80 foot Norway Spruce arrived at Rockefeller Center this past Wednesday.  I was there as they hoisted the big tree into position.

It's an 80 year old tree that grew to 80 feet.  The tree arrived during the wee hours of Wednesday morning at Rockefeller Plaza on a huge flatbed trailer.

The Spruce grew on Joe Balku's property in Flanders New Jersey.  Mr. Balku said he watched the 10 ton tree sway during the height of Sandy's wrath.

Right now, the tree is being decorated with over 30 thousand multi-colored lights.

The tree lighting will take place on Wednesday November 28th.
