As of Monday morning, Tropical Storm Gert is centered less than 700 miles southeast of Cape May. While the storm will turn out to sea, posing no direct threat to the U.S. East Coast, we'll probably see additional swell and an elevated risk of rip currents from late Monday to early Wednesday.

TONIGHT: S winds 5 to 10 kt, diminishing to around 5 kt late. Seas 2 ft or less. Mainly in SE swell with a dominant period of 8 seconds.

TUE: SE winds around 5 kt, increasing to around 10 kt with gusts up to 15 kt late. Seas 2 ft or less, then around 3 ft in the late morning and afternoon. Mainly in SE swell with a dominant period of 9 seconds. A chance of showers until late afternoon.

TUE NIGHT: S winds 5 to 10 kt, becoming W after midnight. Seas 3 to 5 ft. Mainly in SE swell with a dominant period of 12 seconds.
