Comedian Jay Black graduated Cherokee High School in Marlton where he still lives with his wife and 2 children. He became a teacher at Shawnee and then Seneca, and then he made the switch to comedy where he has performed at over 700 colleges nationwide.

Black has also earned the title of ACPA College Comedian of the Year for 2013 and 2014, and is the 2013 all around College Performer of the Year. Among the many comedy clubs he’s appeared in are The Tropicana in both Atlantic City and Las Vegas, The Improv in Los Angeles, and the Laugh Factory.

So why did Black give up teaching for comedy? “Partly because it was making me more money says Black, and partly because I now wake up when I used to be finishing my day.”

Now Black has co-written a movie called “Meet My Valentine” which premieres this Friday night at 9 on the ION Channel.
