A 17-year-old boy is the latest New Jersey teen to lose his life to gunfire in recent days.

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez told the Jersey Journal that Rondell J. Rush, a student at Dickinson High School in Jersey City, was shot along Fulton Avenue late Tuesday afternoon and pronounced dead on Wednesday.

The newspaper reported Rush was taken from the scene in a private vehicle despite police ordering a group of people  to stop after cops saw the group putting him into the car. The car was stopped four blocks away and taken to a hospital by ambulance. Their relationship with Rush is not known.

The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office did not immediately return a call for follow-up comment Thursday morning.

Days earlier in Trenton, Ciony Kirkman, 16,  was shot in the back of the head on Sunday as she sat in a stolen mini-van. She died from her injuries Wednesday. Police have not made an arrest.
