It was a cliffhanger for East Brunswick's Jax on "American Idol" movie night as she took the final spot on the show's top 10 on Thursday night.

The 18-year-old beat out Brooklyn's Qaasim Middleton who remained on the show after earning the "Judge's Save" which can only be given out once during the season.

Jax, meanwhile, performed "Grow Old With You" by Adam Sandler from "The Wedding Singer" and got positive reaction from all the judges. Keith Urban said her rendition of the song was "beautiful" and that he enjoyed hearing a "girl singer" do the song while Jennifer Lopez thought it played into the "quirkiness" of her voice and said she did "really great." Harry Connick Jr. called Jax a performer who was a "high risk, high reward" type of performed which paid off with a lovely..sweet and personable" result.

A nervous Jax called it a "painful experience" having to wait until the end of the show to learn she made the cut. ""Ok. That was stressful. We love you," tweeted her parents. During the show she tweeted that her fingers were "crossed so hard."

Producer Nile Rodgers worked with all the contestants durinrg Thursday night's show, and urged Jax to keep everyone's eyes "glued on you" during her performance. He was  greeted with a big hug from Jax.

Before her performance, Jax described the movie she'd like to be in as a "zom com" in which she'd be a "zombie slayer by day and a romantic girl by night."

NASCAR racer Jeff Gordon made a brief appearance on the show to hand host Ryan Seacrest the voting results. He announced that all the Idol contestants will be singing the National Anthem on Sunday at the Fontana auto race. Lopez also performed "Feel the Light" from her upcoming animated movie "Home" while Kenny Loggins sang "Footloose."
