JACKSON — A Jackson teen sustained only minor injuries when he was struck by a passing motorist as he was about to board his bus Tuesday morning.

The Jackson Police Department reported the accident happened just before 7 a.m. when the 16-year-old was hit in the area of Brewers Bridge Road and Buckingham Drive. A 57-year-old woman driving a 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix struck the boy while crossing Brewers Bridge Road.

Police said the woman stopped as soon as the accident happened and was helpful with authorities immediately afterwards. The initial investigation showed the boy was in the road before the bus had stopped and put on its warning lights. The boy was taken to a local hospital by ambulance for treatment of his injuries.

The accident is being investigated by Officers Trevor Crowley and Brad Reider of the Traffic Safety Unit.
