Just what we need in New Jersey, another “War on Christmas”. This time though Roselle City Council President Charlene Komar Storey has decided not to resign over the word Christmas being used in the town’s lighting ceremony.

I’m guessing there must not be a lot to do if you’re the Roselle City Council President if including the word Christmas is enough to make you want to quit. I’ve got an idea, how about we quit attacking Christmas and see it for what it is. Christmas is the headliner of all the holidays.

Every Thanksgiving I raise the argument that macaroni should be included on the Thanksgiving table because in my opinion, it’s a better dish than turkey. But I’m smart enough to realize that turkey will always be the headliner, even if the country were completely overrun with pasta fans.

You take Christmas away from December and none of these other holidays are celebrated the same way. Christmas is the holiday that makes it all happen and it should be acknowledged regardless of whether you celebrate it or not.

There’s a old saying that goes “When in Rome, do as the Romans do.” As John Lennon once said “America is the new Rome.” Lennon once again proves he is right, same as he was when he penned the lyrics “War is over if you want it.”

Today is the first day of Chanukah and even though I don’t celebrate I sincerely wish you a Happy Chanukah or any holiday that you celebrate.

How about we end the “War On Christmas” and instead work on “peace on earth” and "good will toward men?"
