The people who bring us the ACT released some sobering statistics this week: many high school seniors are not nearly ready for college based on the results of this year's test.

According to,

The ACT reported that 31 percent of all high school graduates tested were not ready for any college coursework requiring English, science, math or reading skills. The other 69 percent of test takers met at least one of the four subject-area standards.

So, how many were proficient in all four? Only 25%. About 1.5 million students took the ACT.
