"Learning how to handle common maintenance issues is beneficial to anyone who gets behind the wheel," said Patrick Migliore, manager of the AAA Car Care Center in Springfield.  "Proper maintenance can extend the life of your vehicle and help prevent costly repairs."

AAA recommends motorists perform the following on a regular basis:

  • Check the Air and Wear of Your Tires-This should be done monthly, with a quality tire guage when the tires are cold.
  • Ensure Your Car Battery is Property Charged-At every oil change, check battery cables and ensure they are security attached to the terminals.  Clean the terminals as well if there are signs of corrosion.
  • Keep Those Wipers Wiping-Inspect wiper blades monthly.
  • Work with a Local Repair Shop You Trust-Every car requires routine maintenance and repair.  The best time to find a mechanic is before you need one.
