The U.S. Treasury sent a reported $4.2 billion to families of illegal immigrants.

The money was transferred to the families of illegal immigrants as part of a program called the Additional Child Tax Credit which winds up being an income-transfter program for low-income families. The credit offers up to $1,000 per child to all resident families, including those of illegal immigrants.
