The outside shoulders also will be repaved in both directions between mileposts 11.25 and 13.5 in Ocean and Eatontown.

According to the NJDOT:

Work requiring single-lanes to be closed will be performed at night in order to minimize traffic impacts on Route 18, an important north-south expressway heavily used by drivers headed to Shore destinations.

The DOT plans to maintain all travel lanes on Route 18 between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, though traffic may be shifted to different lanes as necessary. During the summer months, from May 15 through Sept. 15, lanes will not be closed on weekends for construction.

Repaving the southbound Route 18 ramp will require periodic nightly detours.
