Wow. Just wow. You've heard the unsolved April Kauffman murder case covered extensively by our news team ever since 2012 when the incident took place, but here's a "Spark Notes" type version of what went down:

Kauffman was found shot multiple times in the bedroom of her home. In addition to being an Atlantic City radio show host, she also owned a salon and catering business. No one has been charged with killing her, however her husband has remained under a cloud of suspicion even though prosecutors have not publicly named a suspect.

Now let's fast forward to 2017. Earlier this week, April's husband, Dr. James Kauffman, was arrested at his office after a raid executed by Linwood and Egg Harbor Township police, as well as the FBI. According to NJ 101.5 reporter Dan Alexander, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon Tyner said the search warrant at the Linwood home of Dr. James Kauffman and his Little Egg Harbor office “is unrelated to the homicide of Dr. Kauffman’s late wife April. However, information that we developed over a period of time let us seek and become authorized to execute a warrant.”

While he never pointed the handgun at the officers, but rather pointed it at himself multiple times, Superior Court Judge Bernard DeLury has ordered Dr. Kauffman be held in jail until his trial on weapons charges. Prosecutor Seth Levy told the Press of Atlantic City that the doctor is a flight risk, adding he owns four homes, two in New Jersey, one in Pennsylvania and one in Arizona. Kauffman also has the means to flee and has an active passport.
