Human Trafficking Laws Clear Full Assembly

New Jersey lawmakers have passed a measure that tightens restrictions on human trafficking ahead of the 2014 Super Bowl.

The state Assembly unanimously passed the bill Thursday. It now heads to Gov. Chris Christie.

The bill's sponsor, Bergen County Democrat Valerie Vainieri Huttle, has said she pushed for the legislation ahead of the state hosting the 2014 Super Bowl, the kind of event that historically sees an increase in sex trafficking.

The bill expands the law to criminalize additional activities related to human trafficking.

The measure also increases protections for victims and vacates prior prostitution convictions for minors found to have been victims of trafficking.
