A group of volunteers doing river cleanup in Pennsauken Saturday discovered human remains in the mud, according to published reports.

The bones were discovered in the Cooper River near Gateway Park, along Admiral Wilson Boulevard, 6ABC reported.

The Prosecutor's Office could not immediately be reached for comment. The article states that authorities are working to identify the approximate age and sex of individual.

The cause of death and length of time the individual was in the river is not yet known.
