NJ Advance Media reports that according to police spokesperson Lt. Stephen Van, workers discovered a box containing the fetus outside Catholic Charities' administrative offices on West State Street.

The lieutenant did not know what the note said although other police sources say the note was from a woman who apparently had a miscarriage and did not know what to do with the fetus, according to NJ Advance Media.

The fetus was taken to the Mercer County Medical Examiner's office for examination. The case remains under investigation.
