WOODBRIDGE — An crash on the New Jersey Turnpike in Woodbridge has left one person dead Tuesday morning.

New Jersey State Police spokesman Trooper Alejandro Goez said the male driver of a white Ford Excursion was ejected from the SUV just before 7 a.m. in the northbound outer lanes near interchange No. 11 for the Garden State Parkway and pronounced dead at the scene. Two occupants of the car were hospitalized for minor injuries.

Goez could not identify anyone involved and did not yet know the circumstances of the crash. The State Police Crime Scene and Fatal Accident units were both on the scene, according to Goez.

The initial closure of all the lanes  creating a delay that started before exit No. 9 for Route 18 in New Brunswick as traffic got by on the shoulder. All the lanes were reopened around 10 a.m. Tuesday morning.
