More NYC Bridges Shut Down When Sandy’s Winds Hit

New York City's major bridges are closed because of Sandy's high winds.

The latest is the RFK-Triborough Bridge, where a 100-mph wind gust forced the shutdown at about 7:30 p.m. Monday.

City officials say the Brooklyn, Manhattan, Williamsburg and Ed Koch Queensboro bridges were all closed to traffic at 7 p.m.

The Verrazano, Throgs Neck and George Washington bridges were shut down at the same time, soon after the Bayonne, Outerbridge and Cross Bay Veterans Memorial bridges were closed.

The suburban Tappan Zee Bridge over the Hudson River north of the city was closed at 4 p.m.

The following bridges are also closed: Bronx-Whitestone, Henry Hudson, Marine Parkway-Gil Hodges Memorial, and Cross Bay Veterans Memorial.
