Growing up in an Italian household, one thing we knew for sure, Sunday we could count on mom making meatballs.

Along with the pork, beef and sausage she used to flavor the "Sunday Gravy" that simmered all day on the stove.

She always warned us not to eat anyone else's meatballs. I'm not sure why. She just didn't trust them. Funny to think of that now. Maybe she thought they used lesser ingredients or unsanitary cooking methods, but that was her rule.

So everyone I know who grew up in a similar household knows how to make meatballs. Here is the basic, delicious, authentic, Italian-American meatball recipe.
