My sons Albert and Lennon are 10 years old and throwbacks to a time when kids went out after school on their bikes and played with their friends.

Luckily, they have about nine of them in a two-block radius and they're always somewhere, usually on my lawn playing football.

So I'm thinking if they're old enough to go long and catch touchdowns, they should be old enough to shovel the deck and driveway when it snows. I don't ask much of my children but when it snows, I arm them with shovels and send them out.

Hopefully as they get older they'll be able to cash in on snowstorms the way their old man used to.
