How much will Rutgers tuition increase in 2017-18?

NEW BRUNSWICK  — Rutgers will increase tuition by the lowest amount in three years.

The school's Board of Governors approved tuition and fee increases of 1.85 percent for the 2017-18 academic year for in-state undergraduate students.

Tuition and fees have increased an average of 2.1 percent over the past three years.

"Rutgers is committed to providing our students with the highest quality education. Once again the university has been able to keep tuition and fee increases to a minimum while maintaining the top academic programs that Rutgers offers to New Jersey’s brightest students," said Sandy J. Stewart, chairman of the Board of Governors.

The increase means a typical in-state, full-time Arts and Sciences undergraduate at Rutgers-New Brunswick will be $14,638 in combined tuition and mandatory student fees.  For such a student living on campus, total charges (tuition, fees, room and board) will increase to $27,090, up 1.7 percent from last year.

The school said costs will increase by similar percentages for typical Arts and Sciences undergraduates at Rutgers-Camden, to $14,501 for tuition and fees and, for those living on campus, to $26,594 for total charges. At Rutgers-Newark, the cost will increase to $14,085 and $27,349.
