The cost of living is high in New Jersey. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that one out. But does that remain true for EVERYTHING? How about babysitting? How much do you have to pay your babysitter so you and your significant other can have a night to yourselves?

  • Jen in Monmouth County has to pay about $10 per hour, which is considered a normal rate to most people.
  • Meanwhile, Chris in Long Valley charges $20 per hour and people actually fork up the money so he can watch their kids for a few hours.
  • Wes in Lincroft pays $14 per hour and even gives his babysitter a paid vacation in the summer!
  • Joe in Montclair pays $16 per hour for his babysitter.

We had a caller named Susan from Whiting who said she had to become a stay-at-home mom because the rates were too high where she lives. How much do you pay for your babysitter? What do you consider a normal rate for where you live? Leave your thoughts in the comment section below.
