TRENTON — A horse was rescued from an in-ground pool in Hunterdon County on Sunday night — but a deer was not so lucky at Kean University.

NJ.com reported the horse fell though the pool cover in the backyard of a farmhouse  on Pine Tree Drive in Clinton Township after 10 p.m.  The horse was pulled out of the water within an hour, according to the report.

Kean University reported a large deer found injured on a grassy area near the Kean Hall parking lot was euthanized after efforts to remove it failed.

"It was determined the deer will need to be euthanized on site by a professionally-trained marksman," the Union County university said in a post on its Facebook page.
