The Press of Atlantic City reports 55-year-old John Carretta of Mays Landing was charged with creating a false public alarm and maintaining a public nuisance. Authorities tell the newspaper Carretta allegedly made the object, which was made to look like an improvised explosive device.

No injuries were reported in the incident, which began around 10 a.m. Monday in the Woodlands Community in Hamilton Township. The Atlantic City Bomb Squad and several other law enforcement agencies responded and the object was soon removed from the site.

A phone number for Carretta could not be located. It's not known if he has retained a lawyer.
