WEST ORANGE — Police are looking for a couple they said stole jewelry from a Craigslist seller in a shopping center parking lot, and then dragged him across the lot.

The couple met a seller from Pennsylvania on July 12 at the Essex Green Shopping Center on Prospect Avenue, located not far from Route 280, West Orange police said. After inspecting the jewelry, the couple refused to pay and struggled with the seller, police said.

Police said the woman dragged the 42-year-old seller around the parking lot before taking off with the jewelry in a stolen Lincoln MKS.

West Orange Police offer a Safe Exchange Zone program where buyers and sellers involved in Internet transactions can meet to complete their business. The parking lots of Police Headquarters, the Washington Street Sub-Station, and the Valley Sub-Station are all part of the program, as are the lobbies of the buildings Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

West Orange Police ask anyone with information about the incident to call them at 973-325-4020.
