Help find him: 11-year-old boy discovers home burglary in progress
WAYNE — Police are looking for a man who was caught in the middle of a home burglary by an 11-year-old boy when came home from school on Monday. [UPDATE: He's been caught!]
Wayne Police spokesman Capt. Laurence W. Martin said the boy entered the house in the Pine Lake section of the township around 3:20 p.m. and heard the man in a first-floor room. When he spotted the man, he quickly left and went to a neighbor's home to call police, Martin said.
By the time officers arrived, the man was gone, but the owner's home surveillance system caught the man on video entering the home through a sliding glass door and then walking around the house, police said.
The man is described as a white male adult, about 6 feet tall, with a medium build, mustache and a goatee. Laurence asked anyone with information as to the identity of the man to call the Wayne Police Detective bureau at 973-633-3530.
