Heat Event for Memorial Day

The National Weather Service in Mount Holly said New Jersey's "first heat event of the season" is possible for Memorial Day weekend; the worst conditions may not be felt until Monday and Tuesday.

While temperatures should be in the 80s, the heat and humidity could create heat indices above 100 degrees.

Warm and humid air is headed to the region beginning Saturday, but clouds and a weak cold front are expected to curtail the hottest weather until Monday and Tuesday.

The NWS indicated this heat event won't be the worst of the season, but since it's occurring so early, bodies may not be prepared.

Keep an eye on the elderly, young children and medically-compromised this long holiday weekend, as they are particularly vulnerable to drastic changes in temperatures.
