Toms River Police are looking for the man who robbed a 68-year-old woman at an outdoor ATM on Monday.

As the Berkeley Township woman stood at the ATM outside the Bank of America on Route 37 eastbound near Favorites, a man walked up behind her as she entered her password and said, “this is a robbery, get out of the way,” police said. He pushed past her and withdrew cash from her account, police said. The man fled on foot south to a wooded area, they said.

The man is described as being in his late 20s, standing 5 feet and 10 inches tall. He was wearing a wool hat and brown jacket, police said.

Toms River Police spokesman Ralph Stocco commended the woman for not putting up a fight.

“She did the right thing by complying with the robber's demands, and by doing so, she may have avoided injury. Most times, they don’t want to hurt you, they only want the money," Stocco said.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact Detective Randy Petrick at 732-349-0150, ext. 1235.
