The Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office has still not released a description of the gunman inside the home on Deutz Avenue in the Mercer County community around 11:12 p.m. but are following leads developed during their interview with the over 100 people at the party.

Several possible suspects were interviewed by Hamilton Police on Saturday as were attendees at the party as law enforcement continues to piece together the events at the party that led to the shooting.

17-year old Shakir Williams of Trenton was  found in a bedroom nearly an hour after police began to clear the house in search of the gunman Mercer County First Assistant Prosecutor Angelo Onofri told the Times of Trenton. “The officers had to clear everyone — they did not know if the shooter was or was not in their midst. As they were clearing the house — that’s when they found the body.”

It was a chaotic scene when police arrived at the home with people pouring out of the house after the shots were fired at the birthday for a 15-year-old girl whose mother, stepfather and 23-year-old brother were collecting a cover charge at the door reports the Times of Trenton. They may face charges for underage drinking but for now “We are going to examine the underage drinking, but the priority right now is finding the shooter,” Onofri told the newspaper.

A 17-year-old victims who took shots to the chest, an arm, a leg and the groin remains hospitalized in critical but stable condition following five hours of surgery at Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton.
