A man in New Mexico who just retired and could really use a jackpot for his retirement years thought he had won one. The lottery commission in New Mexico says he didn't. The scratch-off he bought has various amounts of money and a code number. Another part of the ticket tells you what code number is a winner for that ticket.

In this case, one of the winning code numbers was one, which is what appeared to be assigned to $250,000 in two different places on his ticket. He thought he'd won half a million bucks.
